Pakistan Poultry Association intensely participated in Quiz Competition arranged by Fatima Jinnah Medical University on 15th May, 2017
To create awareness amongst the masses Pakistan Poultry Association has recently launched a consumer education campaign, in his regard Pakistan Poultry Association is participating in different activities being held at different schools and colleges as a part of consumer education activity. Dr. Abdul Karim Chairman Pakistan Poultry Association, Dr. Wajid Raza Jafferi and Major (Retd) Syed Javaid Hussain Bukhari secretary PPA (NZ) attended the event.
The main purpose to attend this conference was not only to convey the message of the nutritional benefits of poultry products to the general public but also to the medical students: Dr.Abdul Karim
PPA not just actively participated in the event by exhibiting the poultry related products and displaying the documentary on the production process from grandparents to layer or broiler, poultry feed processed chicken and eggs. PPA participation in the event was encouraged by the medical students. PPA has conveyed the message of the nutritional benefits of poultry products that poultry Meat & Eggs are absolutely safe and healthy.
Pakistan Poultry Association also placed standees, containing the messages and slogans of healthy chicken and eggs on them. A large number of Professors, Lecturers, medicalstudents and medical consultants attended the conference and through them the message regarding nutritional benefits of poultry products to human beings was conveyed to the general public.
Dr. Abdul Karim had the honor to address the participants while being on the stage and he not only cleared the doubts of most of the medical students in the hall about the poultry products but also gave them the insight about the mechanics and driving force of the poultry sector. He added that poultry sector of Pakistan succeeds in bridging gap between demand and supply of the essential proteins requirements of consumer need in the most economical way. He further said that poultry at present contributes about half of the total meat consumption and generates employment and income for about 18 hundred thousand people. He also presented a presentation on poultry contributing to food security in which the issues like: Food Security and Nutritional Benefits of Poultry Products were discussed in detail. He detailed the participant that the poultry industry use typical breeding pattern to get eggs and is not a process of few decades but it took 100 years to get this breed of broiler we have today. It is the result of selective breeding. He also put light on the differences in the Desi bird and layer for their egg production per annum as commercial layer produce three times more eggs than indigenous birds. Further he discussed in the presentation about the transition of the traditional rearing of the birds in comparison with the today’s modern environmentally controlled and nature friendly rearing procedures. He also clarified with the help of slides that there are no such thing as hormone or steroid used in poultry feed.
The purpose to attend this seminar was well served by not only conveying the message of the nutritional benefits of poultry products to the general public but also by busting the myths, rumors and all types of mis-conceptions about the poultry products to the physicians from all over the country. Gift hampers amongst the participants and winners of quiz competition were distributed by PPA.At the end delicious Hi Tea with poultry items was served to the participants.
