A Seminar on “Broiler Breeder Nutrition: Protein turnover, De Novo Liogenesis, Heat Production and body Composition” was held on 09th May, 2017 at Falettis Hotel Lahore. The seminar was hosted by USSEC (U.S Soybean Export Council) with collaboration Pakistan Poultry Association. Mr. Abdul Basit president LCCI and Dr. Abdul Karim, Chairman PPA (NZ) were Chief Guest and Guest of Honour of the Event respectively. The seminar was well attended by RaiMansab Ali Kharl, RazaMehmoodKhursand,Mr. Shahzadand Major (Retd) Syed JavaidHussainBukhari from PPA.

Speakers at the eve through light on the uses of Soy Bean in Poultry feed.  Pam Sue Helmsing, Regional Director, ASC, U.S Soybean Export Council, Inc.,U.S.A briefed the guests about uses of U.S SoyBean in Poultry diet. Soybean meal is the only common protein supplement without a limitation on the quantity that can be used in poultry rations. “It is a good source of protein because of its content and digestibility” she said while addressing at the eve. Prof. Dr. Craig nelson Coon Poultry Nutritionist University of Arkansas (key Speaker) delivered a detail briefing on “Broiler Breeder Nutrition: Protein turnover, De Novo Liogenesis, Heat Production and body Composition”.He said that Soybean meal is the dominant protein supplement used in poultry diets and is the standard to which alternative protein sources are compared. Soybeans can be fed to poultry whole or as soybean meal, a by-product of oil extraction. Oil can be extracted from soybeans by the application of pressure, which is referred to as expeller or mechanical extraction, or by solvent extraction. Most commercial feeds use solvent-extracted soybean meal. Only mechanically extracted soybean meal can be used in organic poultry diets.

Mr. Abdul Basit also addressed at the occasion, he appreciated the efforts made by USSEC team for organizing such an informative and beneficial seminar for Poultry Industry. While addressinghe also briefed about uses of Soy Bean in Broiler Breeder Development. He said that SoyBeanmeal has high protein content, especially when compared to other plant protein sources. Soybean meal also has an excellent amino acid profile that complements of corn, the primary energy source in poultry diets. He was also of the view that Soybean meal dominates the market for protein supplements for poultry, due to its consistent nutrient content, availability and high content of crude protein.Dr. Abdul Karim while addressing escalate the hardwork made by USSEC in arranging such an informative seminar on use of Soy Bean in Poultry Diet. He said soybeans are an excellent source of protein and energy for poultry. He briefed about the use of Soybean Meal in Poultry feed in Pakistan. The seminar was ended on the good note that USSEC and PPA will look and work together to work as one team for the up gradation of the poultry farming standards by educating the farmers and parallel work be done on the consumer education by eradicating all the misconception and rumors about the poultry meat which is Healthy, Nutritious and complete diet.
